(What's the difference?
Personality/behavioral style is like the 'software' that a person
is running. Their intellect is what energises or powers it - their
'processor', 'hard drive' and 'RAM'. Great software runs rather slowly
on under-powered hardware, is easily overloaded and crashes now and
again. On the other hand, no amount of fancy hardware (intellect)
will help if the software (personality) is badly designed or full
of bugs. In fact, it tends to cause a lot more trouble, louder
and faster! For maximum success you need both the intellectual
aptitudes and personality / behavioral style appropriate for the role
in question. However the line between 'inclination' and 'ability'
is a fuzzy one - you will learn all about how this works when you
attend Training.)

The MBTI is different in that it is a
'categorization' tool. It uses a pigeon-holing system with 16
pre-determined 'boxes'. We feel that it is best suited as an
introductory tool for basic behavioral awareness, and not for recruiting
or serious developmental coaching. It has four simple, bipolar
scales.
DISC is very different in that it has
only four main 'scales', which many HR professionals find to be of
limited value for meaningfully guiding staff decisions or management
issues. Historically there has been a lot of bad press from
psychologists and others who have questioned the design and validity
of this tool. (i.e. Does it really measure what it purports too, and
is it useful?) It is best to do your own research.
