Article: Australian Employers Face New Form of Stress Test

The Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) is campaigning against employee stress claims. The acting CEO of the ACCI, Lyndon Rowe, says payouts for stress and claims against employers should not be allowed to reach overseas levels. The ACCI argument is that workplace stress is an ill-defined concept, despite over two decades of research on the topic. Rowe says there is no direct evidence of a link between employment and personal stress levels. Rowe contends that Australian legislators are too willing to force companies to provide compensation schemes, rather than being willing to fund statutory schemes at the proper level.
