Article: One in Four "Driven to Drink by Stress"

One in four people turns to alcohol to deal with stress, according to a survey. Serious stress causes 1 in 14 people to feel suicidal and more than a third to feel depressed. An NOP poll of 2,000 people for the Samaritans says impatience with the Internet, queuing and being kept waiting on the telephone or in a shop lead to tension. The biggest sources of stress, however, are work (25 per cent), followed by family (20 per cent) and money (18 per cent).
