Northside Chronicle, April 17, 2002 THREE years ago Sue Cleland was hospitalised for an anxiety disorder, depression and drug and alcohol problems. A professional social worker in the mental health field at the time, Ms Cleland was suicidal after living with debilitating anxiety for 20 years. Now she has turned her life around, running a successful private practice, The Anxiety and Stress Management Service of Queensland. In it she provides individual and group recovery programs to people affected by anxiety disorders. "There is such a demand for this," Ms Cleland said. She said people who suffered anxiety disorders had a high sensitivity to events and people around them. High expectations, the need to feel perfect, to succeed and be accepted by people were other causes, she said.
